BULGARIA - A COUNTRY
OF NOTED POTENTIAL
Overview
Bulgaria is situated
in the Southeastern Europe and occupies an area of
about 111 000 sq. km. in the eastern part of the
Balkan Peninsula. The average altitude is 470
m. Its territory covers high and medium-high mountain
ranges, plains and valleys. Almost one quarter
of the country’s territory is covered with forests.
Edelweiss, which grows in difficult to access
places in the high mountains, is one of the rare
plants growing in the country and there are quite
a few left. Bulgaria is famous for its oleaginous
rose, which blooms in the entire Kazanlak Valley,
also known as the Valley of Roses.
Because of the beautiful coastline of
378 km. along the Black Sea, Bulgaria is a preferred holiday destination. Its seawater is
very clean, not tidal and is bordered by long
sandy beaches.
The Bulgarian climate is temperate
continental, mild and suitable for sea cruises
during any season. The coastline climate is formed
by the influence of airflows
from the Black Sea and the Mediterranean lands and it is much
milder in summer than that of neighboring Turkey
and Greece. There are no extreme temperatures here;
the average air temperature is 27°C, and
water temperature is about 24°C in the summer.
Bulgaria’s population is about eight million people. The
beginning of the transition of Bulgaria from communism and
planned economy to democracy and market economy
started in 1989. The country is democratic with a freely
elected parliament. Bulgaria’s history is rich and it is famous
for its culture and folklore. The national currency unit is the
BGN/Lev. Bulgaria is also a wine country, the fifth major
wine–producing country in the world.
The country has been a full of NATO and EU members since 2007.

TOURIST INDUSTRY
The country’s tourist industry is growing rapidly for both summer and winter holidays. Over nine million tourists on the average visit Bulgaria every year.
The summer season lasts for five months.
Get active on Sunny Beach: The gentle curve of the bay here keeps the waves in check, so it’s really calm for swimming. It’s also great for all the watersports that are on offer. Pedalos and banana boats start things off, then waterskiing, jet-skiing, paragliding, scuba diving, kite- and wind-surfing pick up the pace. Back on the sand, you can join in a game of volleyball – or tune up your swing on the mini-golf course.
The Horse Club offers its services to horse riding fans.
Water and amusement parks: Action Aquapark and Luna Park,
Karting Track, 4x4 Adventure.
Have a big night out in Sunny Beach: After dark, the prom switches its focus from eating out to full-on partying. Come early evening, you’ll see a fire dancing show on the sand traditionally performed on hot coals. Stylish beach bars mix cocktails to match the sunset. If you have the energy, huge multi-level clubs keep the party going ’til sunrise.
Another place of amusements and culinary art is the Khan's Tent near the Windmill.
SUNNY BEACH
There were two large fresh water springs in the bay situated between the Cape of Emine and Nesebar in the Middle Ages. The residents earned their living by selling drinking water to Nesebar, which had none of its own. Nowadays, this area is known as the Sunny Beach, which was first developed in 1958 and is now the largest of the Bulgarian beach resorts.
No matter where you go in the resort, you will experience a sense of unlimited freedom and space to enjoy life.
There are more than a hundred square miles of forest and the beach is a 6 km long. At the same time, you are never far away from the excitement of the big town life.
A few world resorts are as exciting as Sunny Beach, which is situated near the fourth largest Bulgarian town of Burgas. It is famous for the biggest sea garden, the longest main road, the most ancient museum, the busiest seaport with a stock exchange, one of the biggest universities, and the largest annual flower exhibition in the country.
Burgas is also a centre of road, railway and air transports, so you can get to any point in the world. The breathtaking Kamchiya River Reserve is less than an hour on the highway.
There are more than hundred parks, cafes, bars, restaurants with Bulgarian folklore music, as well as many various nightclubs in this famous resort.
